Huawei Balong 5000 enables Anritsu to be the industry's first to complete the 5G radio frequency conformance test

[March 4, 2019] Huawei and Anritsu announced a significant progress in the joint commissioning on 5G conformance testing. With the help of the Anritsu's conformance test system, Huawei 5G device chipset Balong 5000 is the industry's first to complete the 5G radio frequency (RF) conformance tests in both non-standalone (NSA) and standalone (SA) modes. This giant leap significantly shortens the development period of the SA networking mode and quickens its trial and official commercialization, further narrowing the gap with the NSA networking mode.

As a benchmark 5G multi-mode device chipset in the industry, Balong 5000 is the first to support both SA and NSA networking modes, accelerating the development and maturity of the 5G industry. Balong 5000 supports 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G networks on a single chipset and leads the industry in the 5G peak download rate. It achieves 4.6 Gbps in the sub-6 GHz frequency bands, twice the industry average. It also achieves 6.5 Gbps in the millimeter wave (mmWave) frequency bands and 7.5 Gbps if plus LTE dual connections, 10 times faster than top 4G LTE speeds on the market today. This brings an ultra-fast 5G network experience and provides superior connectivity for more 5G network applications. Balong 5000 is the world's first chipset to support sub-6 GHz 100 MHz x 2CC bandwidth, meeting carriers' diverse networking requirements and maximizing usage of carriers' spectrum resources. The chipset is the first in the industry to support NR TDD and FDD full spectrum, helping carriers effectively utilize frequency band resources and providing device users more stable mobile connectivity experiences.

Anritsu's ME7873NR is registered with Global Certification Forum (GCF) as the 5G NR RF/RRM test platform TP250 and won the world-first GCF approval for 5G NR sub-6 GHz NSA conformance tests at the January 2019 CAG meeting. Winning future SA and mmWave frequency-band certifications will play a key role in early commercial release of 5G mobile services and devices expected to grow in 2019.

The 5G NR RF conformance test system ME7873NR is an automated system for 3GPP TS38.521/TS38.533-defined 5G NR RF/RRM tests. It supports both planned 5G NR SA and NSA modes, while combination with Anritsu’s 5G over-the-air (OTA) chamber (CATR) covers all 5G frequency bands, including sub-6 GHz and mmWave. A flexible system configuration allows customization of the ME7873NR for specific measurement conditions. It supports LTE, LTE-Advanced (LTE-A), LTE-A Pro, and W-CDMA RF tests as well as carrier acceptance tests (CAT). An easy 5G upgrade path from the LTE-Advanced RF conformance test system ME7873LA is available to create a cost-effective RF test system that meets all test conditions.
